Services Delivered
AAH carried out asbestos removal under friable and non-friable conditions alongside demolition of bathrooms, including stud and plaster walls, block walls, ceramic floor tiles and screed, and soft strip of offices, store rooms, ceilings and ductwork. The scope also included removal of existing floor finishes including asbestos vinyl, replacement of SMF ceiling tiles and grid (approx. 200 m²) with hangers retained, removal of lead-containing dust throughout the ceiling space, beams and ductwork, removal of asbestos cement sheet walls, NIB wall and firebreak debris (approx. 600 m²), removal of carpet, floor tiles and asbestos black adhesive (approx. 140 m²), removal of an asbestos-backed urinal, and removal of fluorescent light fittings containing PCBs across multiple rooms. Small enclosure pods were used alongside negative air units to control dust within the non-asbestos demolition areas. AAH also stepped up to carry out the demolition works directly after the original demolition contractor withdrew from the project.
The demolition and asbestos removal works were delivered professionally and to a high standard, with variations managed in a timely manner throughout. Built was very impressed with the work carried out by the team and office staff, and Qantas completed a site walk-through, expressing strong satisfaction with the enclosure pods and negative air units used for the demolition works, demonstrating AAH's ability to step in and deliver complex demolition works within a live, operational airport environment.
